Alan Bayham Biography

Alan P. Bayham, Jr. was the President of the State Bar of Arizona in 2010-2011, which is the state's largest association of legal professionals. Raised in a family of ten children, Alan grew up in the Valley of the Sun. He graduated from Brophy College Preparatory and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English from Arizona State University in 1973.

He soon decided to follow in his father's footsteps and became a lawyer. With a J.D. from ASU College of Law in 1976, Alan began to build what has become a successful civil litigation practice, with an emphasis in personal injury. Today he is a partner in the AV-rated law firm of Bayham Jerman, PLC.

The father of seven children, Alan has devoted a significant part of his busy schedule to volunteer work outside the Bar. He has served as a Pop Warner Football Coach, Baseball Coach, and has served as a high school football official with the Arizona Interscholastic Association. He has worked with both the ASU Law Alumni Board and the Brophy College Prep Alumni group.

Alan has been an elected member of the State Bar of Arizona (SBA) Board of Governors since 1999. In addition to his tenure on the Board, Alan has been appointed to serve in many other capacities: member of the Arizona Supreme Court Discipline Task Force (2009-10); member of the Committee on Compulsory Arbitration (2006); probable cause panelist for the State Bar Office of Lawyer Discipline (2008-09); member of the Board of Governors Finance Committee (2002-10); ABA Leadership Institute (2007); Awards Committee (2004, 2010); Board of Legal Specialization (BLS) of the State Bar (1991-1998); Chair (1997-98); appellate panelist BLS (2007-08); ABA Specialization Accreditation Review Panel (1993); Judge Pro Tem Maricopa County Superior Court (1989-91); SBA Legal Specialization Appeals Procedures (1995-97); Tempe Judge Pro Tem (1998-99); and Fee Arbitration Panel (1987-90).
